Apple’s Opening Remarks to Congress on Importance of Encryption

Apple general counsel Bruce Sewell is set to testify before the House Judiciary Committee this afternoon on the importance of encryption.Re/code has managed to obtain a copy of Sewell’s opening statement. In the statement he says that “encryption is a good thing, a necessary thing.” The FBI is asking Apple to weaken the security of our products. Hackers and cyber criminals could use this to wreak havoc on our privacy and personal safety. It would set a dangerous precedent for government intrusion on the privacy and safety of its citizens.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

iPhone 7 to be Thinner With Stereo Speakers, Flush Camera, Thinner Lightning Connector?

A new report from Japanese site Macotakara claims that the iPhone 7 will retain the same width and height as the iPhone 6 but be 1mm thinner. It’s also said to have a thinner Lightning connector, likely referring to the smaller assembly needed to reduce the thickness of the device.Corroborating prior reports, the site says the iPhone 7 will probably drop the headphone jack and will feature a flush camera lens. Additionally, Macotakara suggests that the iPhone 7 could feature stereo speakers at the bottom for improved sound. Finally, the site refutes claims that the iPhone 7 will be waterproof.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Dual Lens iPhone 7 Plus to be Called the iPhone Pro?

The rumored dual lens iPhone 7 Plus will reportedly be named the iPhone Pro, according to a report from MyDrivers. The new name would distinguish the device from the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.Notably, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has repeatedly predicted that Apple is working on two versions of the iPhone 7 Plus, one with a single lens camera and the another with a dual lens camera. While Apple has used the same naming scheme for quite some time, rumors suggest that the company may make some changes starting in March with the launch of a 4-inch iPhone SE and a 9.7-inch iPad Pro. 9.7-inch iPad Pro to Get 12MP Camera, 4K Video Recording?

Apple’s rumored 9.7-inch iPad Pro is believed to closely match the 12.9-inch iPad Pro in features; however, a new report from 9to5Mac suggests it will get a 12 megapixel rear camera. The larger tablet has an 8 megapixel camera.Given that the smaller display yields a more portable form-factor, it would make sense for Apple to promote improved photography on its 9.7-inch tablet. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro’s predecessor, the iPad Air 2, includes an eight megapixel rear camera. Like all recent iPad models, the new version will include a FaceTime HD camera on the front above the display. Like the 6s, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro would also record 4K video. The new 9.7-inch is said to feature an A9X processor, four speakers, a Smart Connector, and support for the Apple Pencil. The display should include brightness and glare improvements over the iPad Air 2. Additionally, it’s expected that Apple will have a new Smart Keyboard cover feature for launch.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

New York Federal Judge Rules Apple Can’t Be Forced to Unlock iPhone

A federal judge in New York has ruled that Apple can’t be forced to help the Justice Department unlock an iPhone. This is another case based on the same 1789 All Writs Act that the FBI used to obtain a ruling ordering Apple to build a backdoor into the San Bernardino shooter’s iPhone. The ruling which comes just a day before the head of the FBI and Apple’s top lawyer testify before Congress.Magistrate Judge James Orenstein rejected the Justice Department’s argument that the 18th century All Writs Act can be used to force Apple to hack the iPhone in a comprehensive 50-page order. He noted that issues of 21st century privacy and technology should not be based on such an old law.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
