Apple’s Opening Remarks to Congress on Importance of Encryption

Apple general counsel Bruce Sewell is set to testify before the House Judiciary Committee this afternoon on the importance of encryption.Re/code has managed to obtain a copy of Sewell’s opening statement. In the statement he says that “encryption is a good thing, a necessary thing.” The FBI is asking Apple to weaken the security of our products. Hackers and cyber criminals could use this to wreak havoc on our privacy and personal safety.
