MAC Apps

Collection of Mac Apps I recommend & have used. I have enjoyed finding replacement of many Windows applications I have used over the years. At the moment I’m back to using Windows though…  –  Have any suggestions? contact us.  I have have used most below.

  • Amazon Music – Move over Pandora… he comes Amazon Music and I like it much better. Need to have amazon Prime to enjoy, but who does not have that these days…  I have it on my iPhone & all my computers. site link
  • AppCleaner – When you move an application to the trash, you’re automatically asked if you want to move the associated preference files as well. Now that’s uninstallation, the Mac way.  –  site/free download
  • Caffeine – Caffeine is a tiny program that puts an icon in the right side of your menu bar. Click it to prevent your Mac from automatically going to sleep, dimming the screen or starting screen savers. Click it again to go back. Right-click (or ?-click) the icon to show the menu. – site/free download
  • Google Crome – Web Browser – Comments; I’m now back to use Safari, with iCloud sync for favorites/bookmarks to my iPhone it’s an easy pick.
  • gfxCardStatus – gfxCardStatus is an unobtrusive menu bar app for OS X that allows MacBook Pro users to see which apps are affecting their battery life by using the more power-hungry graphics. i — you’re using the integrated GPU.

  • DavMail – DavMail is a POP/IMAP/SMTP/Caldav/Carddav/LDAP exchange gateway allowing users to use any mail/calendar client (e.g. Thunderbird with Lightning or Apple iCal) with an Exchange server (access your work Outlook WebAccess site from any email client) – site/free download
  • TextWrangler – My preferred HTML/Script Editor – Has build in FTP. site/free download (also in Apple’s App  Store)
  • Transmission – Transmission is a cross-platform BitTorrent client. Transmission is an open source, volunteer-based project. Unlike some BitTorrent clients, Transmission doesn’t play games with its users to make money.  site/free download
  • Chicken of the VNC – Free VNC viewer. Works great. site/free download
  • Adium  – Adium is a free instant messaging application for Mac OS X that can connect to AIM, MSN, Jabber, Yahoo, and many more.  site/free download

  • VLC media player  – VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.  site/free download

  • Pandora One Radio app!! – Yes I pay for it!!  I use it in my car, computer & iPhone. see Amazon Music
  • Pixelmator – Full-featured and powerful image editing app fro Mac. This is my favorite photo editing app. site link
  • Day One – Personal journal app. It make me want to write. Best one I’ve see.  Free Sync computer/iPhone/iPad.
  • Mactracker – is a freeware application containing a complete database of all Apple hardware models and software versions, created and actively developed by Ian Page. site link
  • Microsoft Excel – Only Microsoft app I enjoy using. (but do have MAC Outlook for work email only) It is still the best for spreadsheet, macros & Scripting for automated reporting.
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop – Ok.. OK.. if you need to RDP to a Microsoft Windows computer best app is Microsoft’s own app and it’s free from that app store. site link
  • iSplash – Photo editor. Takes color pictures, makes them black and white then lets you fade sections back to color.  Very cool!!!
  • World of Warcraft – no comment.
