Canadian Police Are In Possession of BlackBerry’s Global Decryption Key and Are Secretly Using it to Decrypt BBMs

Canadian Police are in possession of BlackBerry’s global decryption key and have been secretly using it to decrypt PIN to PIN BBMs, reports VICE.The revelation comes via court documents that were made public after members of a Montreal crime syndicate pleaded guilty to a 2011 murder. Government lawyers spent nearly two years fighting in a courtroom to keep this out of the public record. It appears that they’ve had the decryption key since 2010.In a technical report filed with the Superior Court of Quebec, the RCMP says it obtained “the key that would unlock the doors of all the houses of the people who use the provider’s services, and that, without their knowledge.”Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple Puts Together ‘Secret Team’ to Explore Paid App Store Search Results

Apple has put together a ‘secret team’ to explore making improvements to the App Store, including charging developers for prominent placement, reports Bloomberg. It’s unclear why the team is considered to be secret.Among the ideas being pursued, Apple is considering paid search, a Google-like model in which companies would pay to have their app shown at the top of search results based on what a customer is seeking. For instance, a game developer could pay to have its program shown when somebody looks for “football game,” “word puzzle” or “blackjack.”Apple apparently has 100 employees working on the project including many engineers who were previously on the iAd team. Leading the efforts is Apple VP Todd Teresi, the same executive who led iAd.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
