Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - Microsoft to Launch a Wearable Device Within Weeks?

Microsoft is reportedly planning to launch a wearable device within the next few weeks, reports Forbes.
The gadget is a smart watch that will passively track a wearer’s heart rate and work across different mobile platforms. It will also boast a battery life of more than two days of regular use, sources close to the project say.
This would give the device over twice the battery life of current smartwatches like the Galaxy Gear and the Moto 360.

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - Apple Wants to Relaunch Beats Music With a Lower Subscription Price

Apple wants to relaunch Beats Music with a lower subscription price and it’s asking labels to cut the price in half, reports Re/code.
The logic of Apple’s argument, relayed by people who’ve heard the pitch secondhand: Apple’s best iTunes buyers spend about $60 a year on downloaded music — $5 a month. So if subscription services dropped that low, any download buyers that switched over to the streaming model would generate just as much revenue for the music labels. And, more important, the market of potential subscribers would get much larger.
Re/code doesn’t believe that labels will get on board with a 50% price cut; even though, Spotify has just negotiated such a deal for additional family members. However, its likely that they would consider a smaller cut. Perhaps to $8/month.

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - Apple Launches iCloud Photos Beta Web Client Ahead of iOS 8.1 Release

Apple has launched a web version of iCloud Photos Beta ahead of iOS 8.1’s release tomorrow. Currently, the web version of iCloud Photos Beta is limited to developers running iOS 8.1.
The current web portal looks similar to the current Photos app found in iOS. You can select multiple photos to either delete or download them, and you can individually favorite, download or delete images as well.
iCloud Photo Library was first unveiled at WWDC, and will let you access any photo you’ve taken from any device. The images are stored at full resolution in their original formats, including RAW files. iCloud Photo Library will also be able to automatically keep your original high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and leave behind lightweight versions on your devices. Edits that you make to photos are automatically synchronized across devices if you have iCloud Photo Library enabled. The edits are non-destructive and you can return to the original version if you want.

Apple has stopped selling Bose speakers, headphones, and other accessories in its online and retail stores (via 9to5). We first reported that Apple would be removing all Bose products from its stores last week, and it seems Apple has finally pulled the plug.
We’ve contacted several retail stores, and they too have confirmed that Apple has removed all Bose products form its Point of Sale (POS) system, meaning this change is likely permanent and there is no way to sell any Bose product.
Bose and Beats were in a patent suit over noise cancellation, but that was recently settled.

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - Snapchat to Begin Rolling Out Advertisements this Weekend

Snapchat will begin adverting in its popular photo messaging application, according to the company. The ads will be the first for the company, which reportedly turned down a $3 billion offer from Facebook last year.
Snapchat notes that the ads will be placed in the “Recent Updates” tab, and will be removed after you view it, or within 24 hours. It notes that it has no plans to place advertisements in your personal snaps or chats, as that “would be rude.” Snapchat says it doesn’t want its ads to be “creepy” or “targeted” like most advertising these days.
This weekend we’re placing an advertisement in “Recent Updates” for Snapchatters in the United States. It’s the first time we’ve done anything like this because it’s the first time we’ve been paid to put content in that space. It’s going to feel a little weird at first, but we’re taking the plunge.
