Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - Apple Tops Interbrand's Best Global Brands Ranking for the Second Year in a Row

For the second year in a row, Apple and Google claim the top positions on Interbrand’s Best Global Brands ranking.
Valued at USD $118.9 billion, Apple (#1) increased its brand value by 21 percent. Google (#2), valued at $107.43 billion, increased its brand value by 15 percent. For the first time in the history of Best Global Brands two global brands – not just one – have each earned a brand value that exceeds USD $100 billion.
Huawei (#94), the Chinese telecommunications and network equipment provider, also makes Best Global Brands history as the first Chinese company to appear on Interbrand’s ranking. With 65 percent of its revenue coming from outside of China and with its earnings continuing to climb both domestically and across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Huawei is quickly becoming one of the largest telecommunications equipment makers in the world. The company is currently the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world—just behind Samsung and Apple. The Chinese brand is one of five new entrants to enter the Best Global Brands ranking this year—the others being DHL (#81), Land Rover (#91), FedEx (#92), and Hugo Boss (#97).

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - WSJ: Apple Delays Production of 12.9-inch iPad to 2015, 12-inch Retina MacBook Enters Production in December

Apple will delay production of a larger 12.9-inch iPad until 2015, reports The Wall Street Journal. The report cites difficulties with meeting iPhone production (specifically the iPhone 6 Plus) as a reason for the delay. Apple had originally planned to produce the larger units in mass volume beginning in December according to people familiar with the matter.
“The top priority for the supply chain is to meet the overwhelming demand for the larger screen iPhones. The output of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus remains unsatisfactory,” the source said. “It would be challenging for display makers to split resources and spend a few months to ramp up production for a new larger screen iPad now.”
The WSJ also states suppliers are gearing up for mass production of a 12-inch Retina MacBook Air in December. Currently, Apple offers only 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models that do not feature a retina display.

A new video testing the bendability of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has been posted by Unbox Therapy.
The footage compares the bendability of the Galaxy Note 4 to the iPhone 6 Plus. Notably, the reviewer was able to put a slight bend in the device at the exact same spot as the iPhone 6 Plus.
“The Note 4 does bend a little bit and funny enough it’s in exactly the same spot as the 6 Plus. It’s no where near as severe. I just have a tiny little warp here and I had to put a lot of pressure into it to achieve that, but still, at that same amount of pressure the Note 3 was completely fine.”

According to new research by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, Apple’s Siri causes a high level of mental distraction in drivers. The study also analyzed mental distraction when using vehicle entertainment systems from Toyota, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, and Mercedes.
Using instrumented test vehicles, heart-rate monitors and other equipment designed to measure reaction times, Dr. David Strayer and researchers from the University of Utah evaluated and ranked common voice-activated interactions based on the level of cognitive distraction generated. The team used a five-category rating system, which they created in 2013.
