- Google's Eric Schmidt on the iPhone 6: 'Samsung Had These Products a Year Ago' [Video]

Google Chairman Eric Schmidt suggested that Apple’s new iPhone 6 smartphones are a copy of previous Samsung devices during an interview with Bloomberg.
Schmidt and former Senior Vice President Jonathan Rosenberg spoke about their book “How Google Works,” the mobile industry and Google’s competition with Apple on Bloomberg Television’s “Market Makers” show with Stephanie Ruhle and Erik Schatzker.

Bloomberg: How do you feel, in the last week when you drive by any Apple Store, San Francisco, L.A., New York, and there are people lined up around the block? So even though way more people carry Android phones, how does Apple have that desire factor?

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - iPhone 6 and Other Smartphones Prove Far More Difficult to Bend Than the iPhone 6 Plus [Video]

We’ve seen a video proving it’s possible to bend the new iPhone 6 Plus with your bare hands but will the iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, HTC One M8, Moto X, and Lumia 1020 suffer the same issue?
Unbox Therapy has followed up their original iPhone 6 Plus bend test video with a new one that puts several other smartphones to the test.
Thankfully, the iPhone 6 performs much better than the iPhone 6 Plus, proving fairly difficult to bend. While there does appear to be some risk that you will bend the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus in your pocket, it seems much less likely to happen with the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. That being said, all the other smartphones tested did even better than both iPhone 6 models with the Moto X holding up the best.

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - Apple's Touch ID is Still Vulnerable to Faked Fingerprints

Security on the Apple Touch ID fingerprint reader of the iPhone 6 has only been marginally tightened and it’s still vulnerable to a simple fake fingerprint hack, reports Marc Rogers, chief security researcher at Lookout Mobile Security.
“I don’t think people need to worry just yet, but there are distinct flaws that could lead to problems down the line, he told CNET. Rogers used the same low-budget technique to fake fingerprints and unlock the iPhone 6 as he demonstrated previously on the iPhone 5S.
“Sadly there has been little in the way of measurable improvement in the sensor between these two devices,” he wrote. “Fake fingerprints created using my previous technique were able to readily fool both devices.”

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - Warning: Users Report Issues With Cellular Service, Touch ID After Updating to iOS 8.0.1

Apple released iOS 8.0.1 earlier today that brought HealthKit app support and other bug fixes. Unfortunately, it looks like Apple introduced new bugs with the release of iOS 8.0.1.
We received reports that the update causes cell service and Touch ID issues. Users constantly see ‘Searching’ or ‘No Service’ in the place of the carrier’s text. In addition, Touch ID is completely broken. From what we understand, the issues are centered around the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus — other iPhone users are not reporting any major issues.
We recommend that users hold off on updating, until Apple releases another update to fix these issues. If you’ve already downloaded, you can downgrade to iOS 8 for a limited time.

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - The New iPhone 6 Can Actually Survive Being Underwater for 10 Seconds! [Video]

Although it’s not waterproof, the new iPhone 6 can actually survive being underwater for 10 seconds, according to tests performed by SquareTrade.
The extended warranty provider has posted a ‘Breakability Test’ video which shows the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus being put through a series of tests to determine their breakability score.
Most notable is the water test in which both smartphones were submersed for 10 seconds. Although the audio stopped play briefly on both devices, it soon returned and both were fully functional after being removed from the water. This is likely due to the new gaskets that Apple has placed around power and volume buttons, as noted in iFixit’s tear down review.
