- Apple Starts Sending iCloud Sign-In Notifications

Apple has started sending users iCloud sign-in notifications in an effort to increase security measures and user awareness following the nude celebrity photo scandal earlier this month.
Apple CEO Tim Cook recently told the WSJ that Apple will alert users via email and push notifications when someone tries to change an account password, restore iCloud data to a new device, or when a device logs into an account for the first time.
We received the email below after signing into iCloud on a web browser.

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - Apple to Use Tokenization Technology for Its Payments Platform?

Apple will use NFC and Tokenization technology for its payments platform, according to BankInnovation sources ‘close to Apple and with knowledge of Apple’s plans for its new smartphone’.
Financial institutions — card issuers and networks — prefer token technology because it replaces primary account numbers, those 16-digit card numbers on the front of credit and debit cards. Instead, the tokenization technology uses complex codes that are easily transmittable over the air and between devices, but that are used only once, so even if they are intercepted, are of no use to fraudsters.
The site also points to a 2013 patent entitled ‘Secure communication between trusted parties’ in which Apple details how tokens might be used.

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - iOS Simulator Reveals 5.5-Inch iPhone 6 May Be Able to Run Landscape iPad Apps

Developer Steven Troughton-Smith has discovered that according to the iOS Simulator, on the 5.5-inch iPhone screen size several system apps switch to the iPad layout in landscape.
Notably, the apps don’t do this at the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 resolution. Troughton-Smith also notes that the landscape view uses modal view controllers instead of iPad-style popovers.
Kinda interesting – an iPhone that can be an iPhone in portrait, but an iPad in landscape. Productivity when you need it.

Apple has reportedly seeded select developers with a SDK that can be used to build third-party apps for the company’s upcoming wearable device, reports 9to5Mac.

Apple has invited an unprecedented number of fashion editors and bloggers to its press event on September 9th, signalling that that as expected, the company will unveil a wearable device, reports Reuters. The company is likely looking to form closer ties to the fashion world which may be a critical factor for the success of its iWatch.
A smartwatch would represent Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook’s first real new product since taking the baton from Steve Jobs. Several fashion media editors told Reuters they received invitations for the first time to an annual September product-launch, which they took as confirmation of a wristwatch in the wings.
“I assume it’s because they are unveiling a wearable,” said Lea Goldman of Marie Claire magazine, a first-time invitee. “This suggests Apple is serious about tapping into the fashion world, which often sits on the sidelines.”
