Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - ISS Recommends Shareholders Vote 'No' on Icahn's Buyback Proposal

Proxy advisory firm ISS recommends shareholders vote ‘No’ on Carl Icahn’s proposal to increase Apple’s share buyback program, reports Reuters.
“(The Apple board) has returned the bulk of its U.S.-generated cash to shareholders via aggressive stock buybacks and dividends payouts,” the ISS report said. “In light of these good-faith efforts and its past stewardship, the board’s latitude should not be constricted by a shareholder resolution that would micromanage the company’s capital allocation process.”
Icahn is trying to get shareholders to approve a proposal that would see Apple increase its buyback by $50 billion.

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTube - Patent Trolls Have Sued Apple 92 Times in 3 Years

Apple has been sued 92 times in 3 years by patent trolls, making it the most targeted company, according to a statement filed with the FTC.
The remarks are in response to the Commission’s request for public comments concerning its proposed collection of information pertaining to Patent Assertion Entities (“PAEs”).
No firm has been targeted by PAEs more than Apple. Apple has litigated against PAEs 92 times in the past three years alone, and has received many more demands. Its experience confirms what many others have documented: although PAE activity is not necessarily harmful in theory, far too many PAEs exist only to extract undeserved royalties. As both a market leader and the PAEs’ favorite target, Apple has a special interest in policies that discourage this behavior. Apple thanks the Commission for undertaking this important study, and respectfully submits these comments on the Commission’s proposal.

Screenshots of the new notification center in Windows Phone 8.1 have leaked online.
The images are from a presentation where Microsoft refers to the new feature as ‘Action Center’.
As in iOS, you pull down from the top bezel to access the Action Center. It appears that a short pull will present a set of toggles for quick changes to your settings, such as enabling Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or AirPlane Mode. Pulling all the way down reveals the notifications separated by app. Notably, apps can intelligently manage notifications by silently adding, updating, or deleting notifications.
