Starting June 1st All Apps Submitted to the App Store Must Support IPv6-Only Networking

Apple has announced that starting June 1, 2016 all apps submitted to the App Store must support IPv6-only networking. IPv6 was developed to deal with the long anticipated problem of IPv4 address exhaustion. It provides an identification and location system for computers on a network. IPv4 only supports about 4.3 billion addresses; whereas, IPv6 supports 7.9 x 10^28 times that many.At WWDC 2015 we announced the transition to IPv6-only network services in iOS 9. Starting June 1, 2016 all apps submitted to the App Store must support IPv6-only networking. Most apps will not require any changes because IPv6 is already supported by NSURLSession and CFNetwork APIs.If your app uses IPv4-specific APIs or hard-coded IP addresses, you will need to make some changes. You can learn how to make the necessary changes by reading this support document and watching the ‘Your App and Next Generation Networks’ video.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

New Apple Music Design to Feature Black & White UI, Huge Album Artwork?

Apple plans to introduce a revamped design for Apple Music which will feature a black and white user interface with huge album artwork, reports 9to5Mac. Earlier today Bloomberg revealed that Apple will likely introduce design changes to Apple Music at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The new version of Apple Music has been in the pipeline since the end of last year with work ramping up at the end of February. While the focus is on a redesigned interface, but there’s also some new functions, reorganization, and simplification of features. The new user-interface ditches the current colorful and translucent look in favor of a simpler design that emphasizes black and white backgrounds and text. For instance, the user interface in the albums view will no longer change in appearance based on the color of a particular album’s art. While the new interface will eschew color in the user-interface, album artwork will become “huge” and a larger part of the interface in order to avoid a dull black and white look, according to people who have seen the updated Apple Music service.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Spotify Switches to Tabbed UI for iPhone App

Spotify has switched to a tabbed user interface for its iPhone app after extensive testing showed that the tabs increased user engagement, reports TechCrunch. Previously the app used a ‘hamburger’ style menu in the upper corner. The company tested the tab bar on iOS to see how it impacted user engagement. It found that users with the tab bar ended up clicking 9% more in general and 30% more on actual menu items. The tests also revealed that reducing the number of options in the tab bar to five increased the reach of Spotify’s programmed content, the company says.Spotify says it tested the tab bar with new and existing users. It encouraged users to explore more types of content and didn’t impact retention, engagement or consumption time metrics. New users engaged more with the navigation menu in their first sessions than they did with the hamburger menu.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
