Apple Announces ResearchKit is Now Available to Medical Researchers [Video]

Apple today announced ResearchKit, a software framework designed for medical and health research that helps doctors, scientists and other researchers gather data more frequently and more accurately from participants using mobile devices, is now available to researchers and developers. The first research apps developed using ResearchKit study asthma, breast cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and Parkinson’s disease, and have enrolled over 60,000 iPhone users in just the first few weeks of being available on the App Store. Starting today, medical researchers all over the world will be able to use ResearchKit to develop their own apps and developers can also contribute new research modules to the open source framework.“We are delighted and encouraged by the response to ResearchKit from the medical and research community and the participants contributing to medical research. iOS 8.4 Beta Moves Audiobooks to iBooks App, Introduces Audiobooks App in CarPlay [Images]

Apple has moved audiobooks from the Music app to the iBooks app and introduced a dedicated Audiobooks CarPlay app in iOS 8.4 beta, notes 9to5Mac.You can now choose Audiobooks from the Collections list to only view those items from your Library. iBooks has a new player screen that lets you easily access chapters from a button at the top right. You can also increase and decrease the speed of playback using a button at the bottom left and there is a sleep timer that can be set via a button at the bottom right.Notably, you can swipe left or right to skip forward or back. A quick swipe over the artwork will move you forward or back 15 seconds. Following up on an email from a concerned customer, the executive relations team at Apple revealed that shipments of its new Apple Watch could arrive earlier than online estimates.Andrew Turko, a MacRumors reader, recently sent an email to Tim Cook. Apple Expected to Ramp Up Apple Watch Production After Strong Pre-Orders

Apple is expected to ramp up Apple Watch production after strong pre-orders sold out its initial supply, reports Reuters.The company completely sold out of the device within six hours of it becoming available for pre-order on April 10th. Many models currently have an estimated ship date of 4-6 weeks, others won’t ship until June or July.Analysts believe that Apple could sell between 2.3 to 4 million units in the quarter ending June.
