Despite rumors that Apple plans to release a 4-inch iPhone 6c this fall, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that the smaller device isn’t coming until next year. iPhone 5S still going strong; next 4-inch likely in 2016. Shipments of 5S are still going strong at 5-7mn units every quarter, an impressive level at such a mature stage of the product cycle. Momentum is being sustained by a more affordable price and the product’s outstanding design. But we still believe it’s necessary for Apple to have a new 4-inch iPhone because: (1) it will be key to extending momentum in the 4-inch category; and (2) it could complete the Apple Pay ecosystem, assuming it is equipped with NFC. We predict a launch in 2016.It’s believed that the iPhone 5c will end its product cycle this fall and the iPhone 5s will replace it as the new entry-level iPhone. Security researchers have discovered a flaw in iOS 8 that makes it possible to render any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch unusable when it’s within Wi-Fi range.Adi Sharabani and Yair Amit unveiled the zero-day vulnerability at RSA 2015. The attack, dubbed ‘No iOS Zone’, renders iOS devices unstable or even completely unusable by triggering constant reboots.“Anyone can take any router and create a Wi-Fi hotspot that forces you to connect to their network, and then manipulate the traffic to cause apps and the operating system to crash,” Sharabani told the RSA security conference. “There is nothing you can do about it other than physically running away from the attackers. This is not a denial-of-service where you can’t use your Wi-Fi – this is a denial-of-service so you can’t use your device even in offline mode.”Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
