Apple Will Discontinue Repair Support for These iPhones and Macs in June

Several Apple products, including iPhones and Macs, will no longer receive repair support and service this June. According to a document obtained by 9to5mac, Apple is planning to switch some products to ‘obsolete’ or ‘vintage’ status next month.Any product in ‘obsolete’ status no longer receives service or repair support through Apple retail stores or authorized service products (they are not eligible for repair whatsoever). Obsolete products are those there were discontinued more than seven years ago. The ‘vintage’ status products are those that have not been manufactured for more than five years, but less than seven. ‘Vintage’ products are only eligible for repair and service in California and Turkey. The iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS will become obsolete in Asia, Pacific, Canada, EU, Japan, Latin America, and all Apple Retail stores. Both iPhones will become ‘Vintage’ in the US, where applicable. The original iPhone will also lose its vintage status in the US and become obsolete. Windows 10 Said to Run Better On the New MacBook Than OS X

An early preview of Windows 10 is said to run better than OS X on the new 12-inch Retina MacBook, according to computer science major Alex King. On his blog, King notes that he has enjoyed the 2015 MacBook and has a bootcamp setup with Windows 8.1 and OS X Yosemite. King decided to upgrade Windows 8.1 to the early preview of Windows 10 and found that Microsoft’s latest operating system ironically outperforms OS X on the MacBook. Here’s the real kicker: it’s fast. It’s smooth. It renders at 60FPS unless you have a lot going on. It’s unequivocally better than performance on OS X, further leading me to believe that Apple really needs to overhaul how animations are done. Even when I turn Transparency off in OS X, Mission Control isn’t completely smooth. Here, even after some Aero Glass transparency has been added in, everything is smooth. It’s remarkable, and it makes me believe in the 12-inch MacBook more than ever before.King notes that while Windows 10 does look and run great, there are some current compatibility issues with the new MacBook. For instance, there’s no bluetooth support and some boot camp drivers were not automatically recognized. Additionally, not all applications scale natively and do not support the full resolution of the retina display, causing the applications to appear blurry. Prototype Self-Driving Google Cars to Hit the Streets of Mountain View This Summer [Video]

Google has announced the next step in its autonomous vehicle project. It’s prototype self-driving vehicles will hit the streets of Mountain View, California this summer with safety drivers aboard.Until now, Google has been using modified Lexus RX450h SUVs to test its software.—We’ve been running the vehicles through rigorous testing at our test facilities, and ensuring our software and sensors work as they’re supposed to on this new vehicle. The new prototypes will drive with the same software that our existing fleet of self-driving Lexus RX450h SUVs uses. That fleet has logged nearly a million autonomous miles on the roads since we started the project, and recently has been self-driving about 10,000 miles a week. So the new prototypes already have lots of experience to draw on—in fact, it’s the equivalent of about 75 years of typical American adult driving experience.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Next Generation iPhone to Feature 12MP Camera With Smaller Pixel Size?

Apple has used an 8-megapixel camera in its iPhone since the 4s, but despite initial reports, the next generation ‘iPhone 6s’ could be the first iPhone to pack a 12-megapixel camera.According to IHS analyst Kevin Wang, this year’s iPhone 6s will feature a higher 12-megapixel camera, corroborating well-informed KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Wang claims that while the iPhone 6s will feature a 12MP camera, the pixel size will be smaller. In general, the larger the pixels, the better low-light pictures you can take. Of course, there are many more factors that go in to play when taking a picture (sensor size, image processing, etc), so Apple could always mitigate the impact of smaller pixels with other improved internal components.
