Apple Patents Earphones That Detect When They’re Being Shared

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office today published a patent filed by Apple back in November 2012 that would detect when earphones were being shared between two users. The patent also describes adjusting the audio to single mode or multi-user mode. For example, when a single user is listening to music they would hear through a stereo sound mode. On the other hand, when two people are listening through both earphones, separate mono signals would be used. Apple’s patent also details a way two users would be able to listen to completely different songs at the same time. An electronic device may be coupled to an accessory such as a pair of earphones. The earphones may have multi-user sensor structures that determine whether or not the earphones are being shared by multiple users. The multi-user sensor structures may include an angle sensor configured to measure an angle at the Y-junction of a cable associated with the pair of headphones. When the first and second speakers are both located in the ears of a single user, the electronic device may perform functions such as playing audio content. When one of the speakers is located in an ear of a first user while the other of the speakers is located in an ear of a second user, the electronic device can automatically take actions such as switching from stereo to mono playback, playing a different type of audio content to each earphone, or other suitable action.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Intel Announces Thunderbolt 3 With USB Type-C Connector

Intel today announced Thunderbolt 3, featuring a USB Type-C connector instead of a Mini DisplayPort, USB 3.1, and up t0 40Gbps transfer speeds. Instead of using the Mini DisplayPort, which Thunderbolt has used since it was first introduced, Thunderbolt 3 is moving to a USB Type-C connector, which Apple introduced with its new MacBook. As a result, we will likely see USB Type-C make its way to the entire MacBook lineup throughout the next few years. Thunderbolt 3 also brings many other changes besides the new connector, including 40Gbps max bandwidth (double the previous generation) and delivery of up to 100W of power for charing devices, or 15W of power without USB PD. With support for USB 3.1, DisplayPort 1.2, and PCIe 3.0, Thunderbolt 3 supports more protocols than any other I/O controller.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
