Tony Fadell, the father of the iPod and Nest Thermostat, recently shared some secrets to design in a TED Talk. Fadell notes that the noticing “invisible problems” around us can lead us to solve problems and building great problems. Fadell shared three main secrets of finding these “invisible problems.”1) Look broader at the bigger picture to see what steps are involved in a product. Examine which steps, or boxes, are necessary and which ones can be improved. 2) Look closer at the the tiny details and see which ones are important. 3) Think younger when examining problems. Why? Younger people have not been around as long to be exposed to the status-quo; therefore, when they run into problems, they sometimes find a better way of doing things.Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
Dish Networks is in talks to merge with T-Mobile USA, according to sources that spoke to the Wall Street Journal. The two sides are reportedly in close agreement about what a combined company would look like. Sources say current T-Mobile CEO John Legere could become CEO, while Dish’s Charlie Ergen would become chairman. Other issues such as purchase price, and mix of cash and stock remain unresolved. The deal would provide synergies on both sides that help solve different strategic hurdles. Dish currently owns lots of wireless spectrum, but has no cellular network to put it to use. It also is struggling ways to find success in the declining satellite TV business. Merging with T-Mobile would help address both those needs. Apple is continuing to dominate digital video viewing thanks to the Apple TV and its iOS devices, according a new report form Adobe. Apple was the leader in major categories including authenticated ‘TV Everywhere’ video and unauthenticated mobile video viewing. TV Everywhere, which is simply subscription-based pay TV programming that’s streamed, has grown 282% year over year (YoY), with the Apple TV doubling their share of viewing form the last quarter from 5% to 10% — overtaking Roku. Apple devices are currently driving 62% all authenticated pay-for-TV video views. “Apple is sitting in the catbird seat because of its dominant position with access to consumers and a wealth of video data,” said Tamara Gaffney, principal analyst at ADI. “The challenge will be to see if it can monetize the strategy fast enough to get ahead of the movement away from linear TV toward digital viewing. Apple is clearly looking to play in the video-streaming market, and the growth of that market is a big indicator as to why.”Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
