Apple Invents Material That Looks Like Metal and Could Rid iPhone of Unsightly Antenna Bands

Apple has filed a patent application for a non-capacitive or radio frequency-transparent material with an anodized metal appearance. Most notably if used for the casing of the iPhone, this type of material would let Apple get rid of the ‘unsightly’ antenna bands.Apple says that “one design challenge associated with computing devices is maintaining a sleek and consistent appearance of a metallic outer enclosure for housing the various complex internal components.”Since metal is not radio frequency transparent, portions of the housings that cover antennas and touch sensors are made out of non-metallic materials such as plastic or glass. “Unfortunately, plastic surfaces and glass surfaces have different visual qualities than metallic surfaces, which result in a visible break in the metallic surface of the housing. This visible break can detract from the smooth and continuous look of the metallic housing.”Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

How to Get Windows 10 for Free

Microsoft has revealed a way for those who don’t qualify for an upgrade to Windows 10 to get it for free.Users on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 will be able to upgrade for free within a year of Windows 10’s launch on July 29th. That leaves users on Vista or XP needing to pay for the new operating system. However, yesterday Microsoft revealed that if you install Windows 10 preview (build 10130) using a Microsoft Account that’s registered for the Windows Insider program, you’ll receive the final version of Windows 10 for free.Windows Insiders running the Windows 10 Insider Preview (Home and Pro editions) with their registered MSA connected to their PC will receive the final release build of Windows 10 starting on July 29th. This will come as just another flight. I’ve gotten a lot of questions from Windows Insiders about how this will work if they clean installed from ISO. As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build and remain activated. Once you have successfully installed this build and activated, you will also be able to clean install on that PC from final media if you want to start over fresh.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple Removes First Generation iPad Mini From Its Website and Online Store

Apple has removed the first generation iPad mini from its website and online store. The smaller 7.9-inch tablet was first introduced in October 2012 and released in November. It featured similar specifications to the iPad 2 including an Apple A5 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM.Notably, the iPad mini was the last non-Retina iOS device available through the online Apple Store. With a price of $249 it wasn’t a great buy considering the iPad mini 2 cost just $50 more and features a Retina display, A7 1.3GHz processor, quad-core graphics and double the RAM.The iPad mini can still be found in Apple’s Refurbished Store for $209; however, you’d still be better off purchasing a refurbished iPad mini 2 for $249.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
