Apple Watch Sales Down 90% From Launch? [Chart]

Sales of the Apple Watch have reportedly dropped by 90% since opening week, according to analysis provided to Marketwatch.Apple has been selling fewer than 20,000 watches a day in the U.S. since the initial surge in April, and on some days fewer than 10,000, according to data from Palo Alto, Calif.-based Slice Intelligence. That is a sharp decline from the week of the April 10 launch, when Apple sold about 1.5 million watches, or an average of about 200,000 a day, Slice estimates.About two thirds of watches sold thus far have been the lower-priced Sport model. Duke University Names Apple CEO Tim Cook to Board of Trustees

Duke University has announced that Tim Cook along with seven other new members have joined its Board of Trustees, effective July 1st.The new trustees are The Coca-Cola Foundation Chairwoman Lisa Borders, Apple CEO Tim Cook, PRM Advisors founder Patricia Morton, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and ValueAct Capital CEO Jeff Ubben. They will each serve six-year terms.—As Apple’s CEO, Cook has overseen the introduction of innovative new products and services including Apple Watch, Apple Pay and the new MacBook. First Apple Store in Queens, New York to Open on Saturday

Apple is opening its first retail store in Queens, New York on Saturday, July 11th. The store is located in the Queens Center mall.”We are really excited to bring our eighth store in NYC to Queens,” Jason Barlia, market director at Apple Retail, told the Daily News. “When we saw this location it made a lot of sense.”The retail store will be one of the largest in a mall in New York and will also be one of the most diverse. Over 130 staff members will serve customers in 24 languages apart from English and two thirds of staff members are bilingual.
