Apple is preparing for a huge initial production run of its next generation iPhones, reports the WSJ. It appears as the company is expected even higher demand for the new iPhone than was expected for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus released last year.Apple is asking suppliers to manufacture between 85 million and 90 million units combined of two new iPhone models with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays by Dec. 31, according to people familiar with the matter. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has announced that the company will write off $7.6 billion from its acquisition of Nokia Devices and Services and cut 7,800 jobs primarily in their phone business.The news comes via a memo to employees in which Nadella revealed plans for the company’s long term growth. Apple has convinced a judge to throw out a $532.9 million patent infringement award against the company.In February, Apple had been ordered to pay $532.9 million after a federal jury found iTunes infringed three patents held by Smartflash LLC.
