iFixit has posted a teardown of the new iPod touch 6G released earlier this week.Apple has literally been calling their iPod Touch 6th Generation “the best iPod touch yet.” While they are giving their music box some of the iPhone’s newest duds, only teardown will tell if this iPod is up to repairability snuff. This Touch totes a 3.83 V, 3.99 Wh battery with a rating of 1043 mAh, as opposed to the 3.7 V, 3.8 Wh, 1030 mAh rated battery found in the 5th Generation Touch.? In lieu of that wiggly yellow flex cable, a new, straight ribbon cable connects the lower assembly to the underside of the logic board.? Despite the equal pixel count, the Touch’s camera lacks some of its cousin’s finer features, such as the sapphire crystal lens cover and auto image stabilization.? The Touch’s ƒ/2.4 aperture also falls short of the 6’s ƒ/2.2.? A judge has granted class action status to a lawsuit over Apple’s practice of searching employee bags outside of working hours, reports Reuters. The lawsuit alleges that Apple should have compensated employees for the time taken to check their bags for stolen merchandise. The judge who granted the lawsuit class action status was U.S. District Judge William Alsup of San Francisco. Apple and Samsung are in ‘advanced talks’ with telecoms to launch electronic SIM cards, reports the Financial Times.The GSMA, the industry association which represents mobile operators worldwide, is close to announcing an agreement to produce a standardised embedded Sim for consumer devices that would include the smartphone makers. The electronic SIM card would let users switch carriers or plans instantly. Samsung and TSMC have started volume production of the Apple A9 processor for the next generation iPhone, according to DigiTimes.Just before production kicked off, Apple requested modifications to the mask patterns prompting both contract chipmakers to rework wafers, said the sources.
