iPhone 6c With 4-Inch Display and FinFET Chips to Arrive in 2016?

A new report from DigiTimes says that Apple is still planing an iPhone 5c successor with a 4-inch display but won’t introduce it until next year. The company will allegedly release the device in Q2 2016 and it will feature 14/16nm FinFET chips. The 14/16nm FinFET chips will be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and Samsung, the sources said. The original plan was to equip the devices with chips built using TSMC’s 20nm SoC process, said the sources, but the adoption of FinFET processors would enable specs upgrade and lower power consumption.Just a few days ago, a report indicated that evidence of the iPhone 6c disappeared from Apple’s supply chain and previous reports have also suggested the device won’t launch until next year.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple Buys 43 Acre Development Site in North San Jose for $138 Million

Apple has purchased a 43-acre development site in North San Jose just weeks after establishing its first major presence in the city, reports the Silicon Valley Business Journal. The deal for developer Lowe Enterprises’ so-called “n1 Campus” closed last week, according to public records. Apple paid just more than $138 million for the property at 2347 North First St., according to a deed that I examined in person today at the Santa Clara County Clerk-Recorder’s Office.Only a few weeks ago Apple reached an agreement to lease the nearly 300,000 sq ft “101 Tech Campus” at 2325 Orchard Parkway which is almost next door to the land it’s now bought. The new site is approved for up to 2.8 million sq ft of office space. That’s about the same size as the huge Apple Campus 2 being constructed in Cupertino. However, Lowe Enterprises had been marketing plans designed by Gensler to build a 1.8 million sq ft urban-style campus. It’s unclear if Apple is interested in those plans or whether it intends to design a new campus of its own design.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple in Talks to Launch Its Own Mobile Network

Apple is in talks to launch a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) service in the US and Europe, reports Business Insider.Sources close to Apple say the company is privately trialling an MVNO service in the US but is also in talks with telecoms companies in Europe about bringing the service there too. An MVNO is a virtual carrier network that sees technology companies lease space from established carriers and sell it to customers directly. If launched, users would be able to insert an Apple SIM into their devices and subscribe directly for data, calls, and texts. Apple would then intelligently switch between towers from different carriers to provide customers with the best possible service. Nokia Announces Sale of HERE Maps to Audi, BMW, and Daimler for $2.74 Billion

Nokia has announced the sale of its HERE digital mapping and location services to a consortium comprised of Audi, BMW, and Daimler. The transaction values HERE at an enterprise value of EUR 2.8 billion with a normalized level of working capital and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2016, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Upon closing, Nokia estimates that it will receive net proceeds of slightly above EUR 2.5 billion, as the purchaser would be compensated for certain defined liabilities of HERE currently expected to be slightly below EUR 300 million as part of the transaction. Nokia expects to book a gain on the sale and a related release of cumulative foreign exchange translation differences totaling approximately EUR 1 billion as a result of the transaction.Rajeev Suri, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nokia, said: “With this step we complete the latest stage of Nokia’s transformation. We integrated the former Nokia Siemens Networks, divested our Devices & Services business, and have now reached agreement on a transaction for HERE that we believe is the best path forward for our shareholders, as well as the customers and employees of HERE. Going forward, we will focus on our planned combination with Alcatel-Lucent. Once that is complete, Nokia will be a renewed company, with a world-leading network technology and services business, as well as the licensing and innovation engine of Nokia Technologies.”Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
