Germany’s Highest Appeals Court Rules Apple’s ‘Swipe to Unlock’ Patents Invalid

Germany’s highest appeals court, the Federal Court of Appeals in Karlsruhe, has ruled that Apple’s patents covering the ‘slide to unlock’ feature on the iPhone are invalid. The decision reaffirms a 2013 one by a lower court.Reuters reports that in a statement, the appeals court confirmed the ruling by the lower Federal Patent Court. The ruling canceled Apple’s patent in Germany based on its similarity to a phone released by Swedish company Neonode in 2006.The Neonode N1 phone had substantially similar technical features and the court found that Apple’s easier interface was not itself patentable. The company sold tens of thousands of the phones before it went bankrupt in 2008. It’s now an intellectual property firm licensing its optical technology for use in smartphones, and tablets.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Which Smartphone Charges the Fastest? [Chart]

An analysis of smartphone charging times comparing the Apple iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4, Motorola Droid Turbo, Google Nexus 6, Asus Zenfone 2, and HTC OnePlus 2 has been published by Tom’s Guide. Here’s how the tests were performed:To test each handset, we ran it down until it was powered off. Then, we charged each device back up to 5 percent. This put all of the phones on an even playing field, as some don’t power down until the battery is completely dead and others cut out when there’s still 3 percent or more battery remaining. Once each phone had reached 5-percent battery life, we plugged them in and started the clock. We then noted the charge of the battery at 5 minutes, 15 minutes and 30 minutes. Finally, we noted how long it took to charge the battery, first to 80 percent and then to 100 percent.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
