New Apple TV to Get A8 Chip, 8GB/16GB of Storage, No 4K Support, Same Ports

Sources have shed some more light on Apple’s next generation Apple TV box, according to a new report from 9to5mac. The device is set to be revealed on September 9, and while many of the details will remain a secret until the event, we’ve heard many rumors on hardware details, pricing, and release date. Pricing and StorageWe’ve already reported that the Apple TV will cost between $149 and $199, and a separate report today corroborated the $149 price-point. Apple has reportedly considered two pricing strategies: (1) the simultaneous release of a $149 base model with 8GB of storage and a $199 model with 16GB of storage or (2) solely releasing a 16GB Apple TV for $149. Since the new Apple TV will include an App Store for games and other apps, the on-board storage upgrade is necessary. Sources say that while 8GB and 16GB maybe limited for iPhones and other mobile devices, these options will be appropriate for the new model since most content will be streamed from the internet. New Apple TV to Cost $149 and Finally Get Universal Search!

The new Apple TV will be priced starting at $149 and will finally get Universal Search, reports John Paczkowski for BuzzFeed.Paczkowski notes that as previously reported, the Apple TV is set to receive a faster processor, a more powerful remote with touchpad input and motion sensors, and Siri integration for voice control. However, another big new feature will be Universal Search which lets you search and receive results from various sources.Sources familiar with Apple’s plans say that a cornerstone of the the company’s new set-top box is a universal search feature that will enable searches across multiple streaming video services as well as Apple’s iTunes Store. Instead of searching the catalogs of multiple video services one-at-a-time for a particular movie, you’ll now be able to search all — or most of them — at once and then choose the service on which you’d like to watch it. You’ll also be able to search for actors and directors, and run other more targeted searches as well — all with Siri. While Apple’s intelligent personal assistant is core to this feature, sources say there’s another engine driving it as well — Matcha, the video discovery start-up Apple acquired back in 2013.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple Considers Return to Ultra-Thin Glass-to-Glass Touch Technology for the iPhone 7?

Apple is considering a return to ultra-thin glass-to-glass touch technology for the iPhone 7, reports DigiTimes. The company is expected to continue using in-cell touch technology for the iPhone 6s.Samples of fully laminated G/G touchscreens have already been sent to Apple and Corning for review. Market observers have recently noted that Apple is in discussions over whether to go back to G/G instead of in-cell technology for future iPhone devices as in-cell technology is currently struggling with various production bottlenecks that are preventing Apple from adding new features as well as increasing resolutions. As a result, touch panel makers are aiming to create G/G touch panels that would allow Apple to create smartphones similar in thickness to current iPhones equipped with in-cell touch panels.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
