Apple will list the top 25 apps compromised by XcodeGhost malware and make it easier for Chinese app developers to download its development tools, reports Reuters. In the wake of the first major breach on its outlet for distributing iPhone and iPad software, Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller told Chinese news site Sina.com that it will offer domestic downloads within China of its software for developing apps.Hundreds of apps were embedded with malware and made their way onto the App Store after developers downloaded a compromised version of Xcode. They resorted to downloading Xcode from an unofficial server because of slow speeds downloading from Apple’s official servers overseas. Apple Granted Patent for Headphone Jack and Plug With Reduced Length and Thickness

Apple has been granted a patent for a new headphone jack and connector plug with a reduced length and thickness. The company notes that the diameter and length of current 3.5 mm and even 2.5 mm audio connectors are limiting factors in making such devices smaller, thinner and allowing the displays to be larger. It filed a patent for a ‘D-shaped connector’ that discloses an audio connector plug and jack that can be used in place of the a standard low profile plug. The connector plug has a reduced plug length and thickness, an intuitive insertion orientation and a smooth, consistent feel when inserted and extracted from its corresponding receptacle connector. A portion or all of the plug connector may include a flexible material that allows the connector to bend with respect to an insertion axis along which the plug connector is designed to be inserted into a corresponding receptacle connector. A corresponding connector jack may be configured to receive the reduced length and thickness connector plug. Former GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz Says Apple Car Will Be a ‘Gigantic Money Pit’ [Video]

Former GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz said he thinks that Apple getting into the electric car market is a huge mistake. Lutz voiced his opinion in an interview with CNBC.-Is Apple doing the right thing here entering this market? No, I don’t think so. If I were a shareholder I would be very upset because they are currently engaged in a very high margin business. The automobile business at best is a very low margin business. You can’t show me one company in the world that to date has made a nickel on electric cars. They are generally money losers and the only reason that everybody is producing them is because they are necessary to meet European fuel economy regulations and U.S. fuel economy regulations. There is absolutely no reason to assume that Apple is going to be financially successful in the electric car business.Do you think they are going to be able to bring some sort of approach to it, given their experience in batteries and consumer devices, that’s at all going to change the economics of this in the next couple years? No. First of all, Apple has no expertise in batteries. They don’t make batteries. The specialized electro-chemical companies make batteries and Apple’s going to buy batteries like everybody else and when it comes to actually making cars, there’s no reason to assume that Apple with no experience will suddenly do a better job than General Motors, Ford, Volkswagen, Toyota, or Hyundai. I think this is going to be a gigantic money pit.-Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple Instructs Developers to Validate Their Xcode Install Following XcodeGhost Malware Attack

Apple has posted a message to developers to address the recent XcodeGhost malware attack. The attack resulted from a compromised version of Xcode that was used by developers to submit apps to the App Store. Here’s what Apple said…—We recently removed apps from the App Store that were built with a counterfeit version of Xcode which had the potential to cause harm to customers. iPhone 6s Review Roundup [Video]

Apple has lifted the embargo on iPhone 6s reviews. Here’s a round up of what reviewers thought about the company’s next generation device. The Verge:if you are thinking of buying a new phone, and you have anything older than an iPhone 6, you should buy an iPhone 6S Plus. It is the best iPhone ever made, and it is right now the best phone on the market. If you’re upgrading from an iPhone 5S or anything older, it will blow your mind. There just aren’t other companies that can roll out a feature like 3D Touch and make it work in a way that suggests the creation of entirely new interface paradigms, and every other phone maker needs to figure out exactly why Apple’s cameras are so consistent before they can really compete.Note that I said the 6S Plus, not the 6S. I am convinced that in another year or so every phone will be the size of the 6S Plus, so if you’re going to jump in, just go all the way. You’ll get a slightly better camera and a little more battery life out of the deal as well. The future is here. You should face it with a gigantic screen.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
