First iPhone 6s Storage Benchmarks [Chart]

AnandTech has posted some benchmarks that show how fast the storage of the iPhone 6s is compared to the iPhone 6 and other popular smartphones. For the iPhone 6s, Apple has basically taken its MacBook SSD controller and adapted for use in a smartphone. The site found that the iPhone 6s uses a hybrid SLC/TLC NAND solution which is suited to bursty workloads. They were able to determine that the 64GB unit uses Hynix NAND but it’s unclear as of yet who supplies the NAND for the 128GB variant and if other suppliers exist for the 64GB SKUs.For those that are unfamiliar how these hybrid SLC/TLC NAND solutions work, in essence the SLC cache is made sufficiently large to avoid showing the reduced performance of TLC NAND. Any time you’re writing to the storage, the writes go to the SLC cache first before being committed to TLC NAND. As long as the overall average bandwidth demand doesn’t exceed the speed of the TLC, short-run bandwidth is solely limited by the speed of the SLC cache, which turns out to be the case for almost every normal use case.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

We repeated the test numerous times with the same result. Last year, there were reports that Apple was having issues with the TLC NAND Flash in the 128GB version of the iPhone 6 Plus. Perhaps, the company has made a change to the storage with the iPhone 6s Plus. We’re looking into the matter and will let you know if we learn any more details.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Aaron Sorkin Lashes Out at Tim Cook: ‘You’ve Got a Lot of Nerve’

Aaron Sorkin has lashed out at Tim Cook following the Apple CEO’s assertion that filmmakers were being ‘opportunistic’ in making movies about Steve Jobs, reports the Hollywood Reporter. Cook made the comments during an interview with Steven Colbert.”I haven’t seen them, but the Steve I knew was an amazing human being. He’s someone that you wanted to do your best work for. He invented things that I think other people could not. He saw things other people could not. He had the uncanny ability to see around the corner and to describe the future, not an evolutionary future, but a revolutionary future. And he was a joy to work with. And I love him dearly and miss him every day. I think a lot of people are trying to be opportunistic and I hate this. It’s not a great part of our world.”Sorkin told The Hollywood Reporter that he and those working at the top of the project had taken pay cuts to get the ‘Steve Jobs’ movie made.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
