Apple has launched a new internal Quality Program to address issues with the anti-reflective coating on MacBook and MacBook Pro models with Retina displays, reports MacRumors.Back in March, a growing number of MacBook owners began reporting that the anti-reflective coating on their display was coming off due to various factors including the pressure of the keys and trackpad on the display when the notebook is closed, third-party cleaning solutions, microfiber cloths, and more.Almost 6,000 affected customers joined an online database called Staingate to share pictures of their displays and thousands signed a Change.org petition.Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
A U.S. jury has ordered Apple to pay $234 million for infringing on a patent held by the University of Wisconsin-Madison for improving processor performance, reports Reuters. The amount was less than the $400 million the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) was claiming in damages after the jury on Tuesday said Apple (AAPL.O) infringed its patent for improving the performance of computer processors. The jurors deliberated for 3.5 hours before returning the verdict. They were asked to decide if the A7, A8 and A8X processors found in the iPhone 5s, 6 and 6 Plus, and some iPads, violated the patents.Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
Intel reportedly has a thousand people or more working on a 7360 LTE modem chip for the iPhone 7, reports VentureBeat. The company is looking to provide both the modem and the fabrication for a new Apple system on a chip.Sources close to the matter say Intel is pulling out the stops to supply the modems for at least some of the iPhones Apple manufactures in 2016. This phone will likely be the iPhone 7. VentureBeat was the first to report on the two companies’ work together, and more pieces are falling into place as the project progresses and grows. It’s believed that Apple may dual source the LTE modems for the new iPhone from Intel and Qualcomm. Currently, Apple uses Qualcomm’s 9×45 LTE chips. Although Apple has yet to officially sign off on Intel as a supplier, sources believe a deal will happen if Intel continues to hit project milestones. “This is a must-win for Intel,” one source told VentureBeat.Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
