Consumer Reports Finds No ‘Chipgate’ Problems With the iPhone 6s

Consumers Reports has weighed in on the ‘chipgate’ scandal over battery life differences between the TSMC and Samsung manufactured A9 chips in the iPhone 6s.The company developed tests to simulate real-world usage of the device. They also made sure that the devices had identical settings in place and couldn’t be affected by the environment. Cellular Use:We measured how well the phones’ batteries stood up to continuous activity on the cellular network. In one test, for instance, we made the phones transmit at a nominal +10 decibels per milliwatt (dBm) on the same channel in the commonly used Frequency Band 5. We were able to maintain those precise conditions via the base station emulator to which the phones were coupled. Ad SDK Caught Collecting Private User Information, Apple Pulls Hundreds of Apps

Apple has pulled hundreds of apps from its App Store that use the Youmi advertising SDK from China after SourceDNA found the SDK was using private APIs.We’ve found hundreds of apps in the App Store that extract personally identifiable user information via private APIs that Apple has forbidden them from calling. This is the first time we’ve seen iOS apps successfully bypass the app review process. But, based on what we learned, it might not be the last. The site believes that the Youmi advertising SDK began experimenting with obfuscating a call to get the app name about two years ago. As it grew more confident it wasn’t being detected, they began requesting more information.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple’s Poaching of Auto Experts Causes Mission Motors Startup to Cease Operations

Apple’s aggressive hiring of auto experts has left an electronic motorcycle startup in the dust, reports Reuters. Mission Motors has ceased operations after losing key engineers to Apple. Some close to Mission Motors said it had reached a point of no return by last fall, when departures to Apple, and other companies, accelerated after a long struggle to find funding and a sound business model. But former Chief Executive Derek Kaufman thinks the company could have carried on if it had not lost key employees, undermining efforts to raise funding.”Mission had a great group of engineers, specifically electric drive expertise,” Kaufman said. “Apple knew that – they wanted it, and they went and got it.”Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
