Mental Distraction Rankings of Voice Activated Systems While Driving [Chart]

AAA has released a report compared the mental distraction levels of various voice activated systems while driving, including Apple’s Siri and Google Now.Potentially unsafe mental distractions can persist for as long as 27 seconds after dialing, changing music or sending a text using voice commands, according to surprising new research by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. The results raise new and unexpected concerns regarding the use of phones and vehicle information systems while driving. This research represents the third phase of the Foundation’s comprehensive investigation into cognitive distraction, which shows that new hands-free technologies can mentally distract drivers even if their eyes are on the road and their hands are on the wheel.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple Patents Auto-Ejecting Shock Absorbers That Protect Your iPhone When Dropped

Apple has filed a patent for auto ejecting shock absorbers that protect your iPhone when dropped. The patent is called ‘Active Screen Protection for Electronic Device’.The company notes that electronic devices, especially mobile ones, may be subject to various drop events. For example, an electronic device may fall from a table, fly from a user’s hand when a user trips, and/or otherwise fall to the ground or other surface. Such drop events may damage glass layers and/or other fragile elements of screens included in the electronic devices. Repairing damage to screens may be expensive, burdensome, and/or impractical. Apple Predicted to Sell 75 Million iPhones, 4 Million Apple Watches During Holiday Quarter

KGI Securities analyst Min-Chi Kuo is predicting that Apple will sell between 70-75 million iPhones, and 3.5-4 million Apple Watches during the holiday quarter. However, Kuo says that sales momentum could decline in the new year, possibly even posting a year-over-year shipment decline for the first time in the first quarter of 2016. We estimate iPhone shipments rose 2.1% QoQ and 23.6% YoY to 48.5mn units in 3Q15, of which 20-22mn units were iPhone 6s. We attribute the solid YoY growth to the inclusion of China as the first-launch market for iPhone 6s and to increased output of the new model (versus 14-15mn units of iPhone 6 in 3Q14). However, as we do not expect overall demand for iPhone 6s to be significantly stronger than that for iPhone 6, we expect shipments momentum could gradually decline in 4Q15-1Q16F on a YoY basis. We expect iPhone may see its first YoY shipments decline in the first quarter of a year in 2016.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
