4-inch iPhone 6c Predicted to Launch in Mid-2016

IHS’ Kevin Wang has posted on Weibo claiming that the iPhone 6c will be released in mid-2016. The analyst did not provide any further details. The prediction somewhat corroborates an earlier report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who said:As there is still demand for a 4-inch iPhone, we believe Apple will upgrade this product line. Because the iPhone 5s is more popular than the iPhone 5c, we think Apple is likely to launch an upgraded iPhone 5s. We predict Apple will mass-produce this new 4-inch iPhone in 1H16 with metal casings. In order to make the current iOS 9 or next-generation iOS 10 run smoothly, Apple may adopt an A9 chip for this new phone.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Tim Cook Says Apple Isn’t Planning to Converge Mac and iPad

Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke out against the idea of converging the Mac and iPad in an interview with the Independent.ie.“We feel strongly that customers are not really looking for a converged Mac and iPad,” said Cook. “Because what that would wind up doing, or what we’re worried would happen, is that neither experience would be as good as the customer wants. So we want to make the best tablet in the world and the best Mac in the world. And putting those two together would not achieve either. You’d begin to compromise in different ways.”“It’s true that the difference between the X86 [personal computer] and the A-series [Apple iPad architecture] is much less than it’s ever been,” says Cook. “That said, what we’ve tried to do is to recognise that people use both iOS and Mac devices. So we’ve taken certain features and made them more seamless across the devices. So with things like Handoff we just made it really simple to work on one of our products and pick it up and work on the next product.”Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Jony Ive Shares the Vision and Story Behind the Apple Pencil in New Interview

Jonathan Ive, Apple’s Chief Design Officer of Apple, has shared the story and vision of the Apple Pencil in an interview with Telegraph. The Apple Pencil was designed in companion with the iPad Pro, in an effort to replicate the natural feel of using a pencil/pen with paper. Ive says the decision to name the stylus Apple Pencil is an acknowledgment of how objects and instruments have evolved over hundreds of years. One of the key challenges faced was designing a writing instrument for use with iOS — an operating system that is mainly designed for fingers, not fine points. Ive hopes the team’s handwork will show when customers use the device. “We hoped if you are used to spending a lot of time using paintbrushes, pencils and pens, this will feel like a more natural extension of that experience – that it will feel familiar,” Ive says. “To achieve that degree of very simple, natural behaviour, was a significant technological challenge.”Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple Improves Its App Store Search Algorithm

Apple has made a significant change in the search algorithm for its App Store, reports TechCrunch. The site has heard from developers that a series of changes occurred starting on November 3rd, making results more intelligent and more relevant.“I think it definitely represents a significant shift from changes in the past, where I think [Apple] just changed the weighting around certain variables like keyword input, or what keywords you had in the title,” explains Dan Held, founder of mobile growth consulting firm Analytica.“It’s their attempt at understanding how different apps rank relative to each other,” he explains, noting that, of course, PageRank is far more complex. “I think this is an attempt to move in that direction…the first step would probably be to benchmark where you rank compared to your competitors,” says Held.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
