Uninstalling Facebook and Switching to Safari Could Save Up to 15% of iPhone Battery Life [Report]

Uninstalling the Facebook app and switching to Safari could save you up to 15% of iPhone battery life, according to tests conducted by The Guardian. The site used an iPhone 6s Plus for a week without the Facebook app installed and recorded the battery life at 10:30pm each night. The phone was taken off the charger at 7:30am and used normally, accessing Facebook for the same amount of time, and for the same purposes, via its mobile website. On average I had 15% more battery left by 10.30pm each day. I had also saved space, because at the point I had deleted the Facebook app it had consumed around 500MB in total combining the 111MB of the app itself and its cache on the iPhone. To make sure that this wasn’t an isolated incident, I also recruited several other Facebook-using iPhone owners to conduct a similar test. They all found similar results, with increased battery life when using Facebook in Safari having uninstalled the main Facebook iOS app.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

India to Push Through Approval of Apple Retail Stores

India is planning to push through Apple’s application to set up retail stores in the country, reports Bloomberg. The company is currently resubmitting its application as it wasn’t in the right format, said a source.Apple should qualify as a provider of cutting-edge technology, the person said. That would exempt the maker of iPhones and iPads from a rule forcing foreign businesses that retail a single brand in India to procure 30 percent of a product’s inputs locally. The company makes most of its devices in China. While the country of 1.3 billion people represents a big opportunity for Apple, it’s also challenging as many can’t afford Apple’s high-end products. Currently Apple has just 2% of India’s smartphone market. Back in December, it dropped the price of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in India by up to 16%. Additionally, Apple slashed the price of the iPhone 5s bringing it down to almost half of its original price.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
