Intel Reportedly Producing a ‘Significant Portion’ of iPhone 7 LTE Modem Chips

According to an analyst at CLSA Securities, Intel has secured orders for a “significant portion” of the cellular LTE modems for Apple’s next-generation iPhone 7.The report from CLSA analyst Srini Pajjuri claims that Intel would supply about 30 to 40 percent of the iPhone 7’s cellular modems, citing “Asian supply chain checks.” If true, the move would certainly impact Qualcomm, which currently manufactures cellular modems for all iPhone models. Pajjuri believes that Apple’s partnership with Intel for modems will have a 4 percent negative impact to its Qualcomm’s revenue, and 2 percent on earnings. Intel, on the other hand, will see a 1.5 to 2 percent increase in its revenue and earnings.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple No Longer Interested in Streaming Rights for NFL’s Thursday Night Football

Apple is no longer interested in digital streaming rights for NFL’s Thursday Night Football, according to Re/code. The NFL sold off the TV rights to Thursday Night Football to CBS and NBC, but still intends to sell the digital rights to those games this month. Streaming rights to all 18 regular-reason games would certainly help set the Apple TV apart from the competition, but Apple has determined that the “package isn’t enough” to do so. Despite Apple pulling out, Facebook, Amazon, Verizon, and Yahoo are still interested in the bidding war, according to the report.
