Speed Test: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge vs. iPhone 6s Plus [Video]

Earlier today we posted some benchmarks showing that the Snapdragon 820 processor found in the Samsung Galaxy S7 bested the Apple A9 processor found in the iPhone 6s. At that time we noted that despite the results the iPhone 6s Plus was likely to outperform or match the S7 Edge in real world usage.Below are a couple speed tests comparing the two popular smartphones. Which do you think comes out on top?Take a look at the videos below and let us know what you think in the comments!Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

U.S. Supreme Court Refuses to Hear E-Book Appeal, Apple Will Have to Pay $450 Million Settlement

The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear Apple’s appeal of a ruling that it conspired to fix the price of eBooks, meaning the company will have to pay a $450 million settlement.Reuters reports that the court’s decision not to hear the case will leave in place a June 2015 ruling by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that found Apple guilty of conspiring to fix e-book prices.Apple, in its petition asking the high court to hear the case, said the June decision by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York upholding a judge’s ruling that Apple had conspired with the publishers contradicted Supreme Court precedent and would “chill innovation and risk-taking.”Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Samsung Galaxy S7 Chip Bests iPhone 6s Chip in Benchmarks [Charts]

New benchmarks comparing the top 10 smartphone chips have been posted online by AnTuTu. The top chip was the Snapdragon 820 processor found in the Samsung Galaxy S7 with a score of 136,383. The Apple A9 processor found in the iPhone 6s followed closely behind with a score of 132657.Notably, the Snapdragon 820 distanced itself from Apple’s chip in GPU benchmarks beating the A9 by 15,994 points. The strong GPU performance is needed to power the Galaxy S7’s higher resolution display.Currently, the GPU with the highest performance is Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (Adreno530), and its GPU score has already reached a score of 55,000. Samsung Exynos 8890 (Mali-T880 MP12) nearly equals Apple A9 (PowerVR GT7600). As for HiSilicon Kirin 950 (Mali-T880 MP4) that is well known to all, its GPU performance is not good enough, and its GPU results are similar to Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 (Adreno418) and Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 (Adreno510).Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple SVP Craig Federighi Writes Op-Ed on the Importance of Encryption

Apple SVP of Software Engineering Craig Federighi has written an op-ed published by the Washington Post explaining that strong encryption is necessary to stay ahead of criminals. The FBI is asking Apple to build a backdoor into the iPhone so that law enforcement officials will be able to obtain the content of anyone’s device with a warrant. Apple is fighting the request because they believe this backdoor will be exploited by others with malicious intent. That’s why it’s so disappointing that the FBI, Justice Department and others in law enforcement are pressing us to turn back the clock to a less-secure time and less-secure technologies. They have suggested that the safeguards of iOS 7 were good enough and that we should simply go back to the security standards of 2013. But the security of iOS 7, while cutting-edge at the time, has since been breached by hackers. What’s worse, some of their methods have been productized and are now available for sale to attackers who are less skilled but often more malicious. Warning: First Fully Functional OS X Ransomware Targets Mac Users

Over the weekend, hackers managed to infect the open source Transmission BitTorrent app with the first fully functional ransomware seen on OS X, reports Palo Alto Networks.Dubbed ‘KeRanger’, the ransomware was inserted into two installers of Transmission 2.9 on March 4th. It’s unclear how the files were replaced with infected versions but the website may have been compromised. The KeRanger application was signed with a valid Mac app development certificate; therefore, it was able to bypass Apple’s Gatekeeper protection. If a user installs the infected apps, an embedded executable file is run on the system. KeRanger then waits for for three days before connecting with command and control (C2) servers over the Tor anonymizer network. The malware then begins encrypting certain types of document and data files on the system. After completing the encryption process, KeRanger demands that victims pay one bitcoin (about $400) to a specific address to retrieve their files. Additionally, KeRanger appears to still be under active development and it seems the malware is also attempting to encrypt Time Machine backup files to prevent victims from recovering their back-up data.Share Article:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Email,   Reddit,   Digg,   Delicious,   StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook,   Twitter,   LinkedIn,   Google Plus,   Newsletter,   App Store,   YouTubeAdvertise Here
