Apple has launched a new ad campaign promoting Apple News, reports Re/code. The ads can be seen in airports and on billboards in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York.Apple News partners ESPN and Vox Media will be featured in the campaign. A few years ago, the notion that Apple was running a service that hosted publishers’ content, and shared ad revenue from that content, would have been a very big deal. But in 2016 that kind of distributed content play is now status quo for the industry; more to the point, Apple’s service isn’t top of mind for most publishers, who are much more interested in rival services from the likes of Facebook, Google and Snapchat.Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here

Apple is working to strengthen iCloud encryption so that it won’t be able to access information you’ve backed up to iCloud, reports the WSJ.Apple executives are wrestling with how to strengthen iCloud encryption without inconveniencing users. Apple prides itself on creating intuitive, easy-to-use software, and some in the company worry about adding complexity. One issue is that if a user forgets his or her password and Apple doesn’t have the key, the user might lose access to their important data and photos. However, if Apple does keep a key, it could be compromised or the company could be compelled to turn it over.Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
AliveCor has announced Kardia Band, the first medical grade EKG band for the Apple Watch, and a new app for smartphones. The Kardia Band for Apple Watch, and new Kardia app, represent a significant breakthrough in proactive heart health by allowing people to discretely capture their EKG anytime, anywhere. Users can record a single-lead EKG by simply touching Kardia Band’s integrated sensor that communicates with the Watch app, Kardia by AliveCor. The Atrial Fibrillation (AF) Detector then uses Kardia’s automated analysis process (algorithm) to instantly detect the presence of AF in an EKG, the most common cardiac arrhythmia and a leading cause of stroke. Also included is the Normal Detector, which indicates whether your heart rate and rhythm are normal, and the Unreadable Detector, which tells you when to retake an EKG so physicians receive only the highest quality recordings.Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here

Another leaked photo allegedly of the iPhone 7 reveals a new simplified antenna band design. The photo corroborates earlier reports that Apple would drop the antenna bands across the back, keeping just the antenna bands at the top and bottom of the device. Notably, it also appears to match a leaked photo from yesterday that has the iPhone 7 Plus with dual cameras.Apple is also said to be dropping the headphone jack, adding stereo speakers, and possibly outfitting the iPhone 7 with a Smart Connector. Unfortunately, we can’t determine if there is a headphone jack or stereo speakers from this image; however, it does not have the three dots denoting the Smart Connector on the back. Perhaps that’s reserved for the iPhone 7 Plus?Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
Instagram has announced plans to switch from a chronological based feed to an algorithm based one.The company says that users don’t see on average about 70% of their feeds. Instagram hopes that by switching to an algorithm based feed, you’ll see more of the posts you care about. To improve your experience, your feed will soon be ordered to show the moments we believe you will care about the most. The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post. As we begin, we’re focusing on optimizing the order — all the posts will still be there, just in a different order.Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
Apple has filed a reply brief to the Department of Justice’s opposition of its motion to vacate an order that would force the company to build a backdoor into the iPhone.Last week, the DOJ filed what Apple viewed as a hostile brief opposing its motion to vacate. Apple lawyer Bruce Sewell said, “Everyone should beware, because it seems like disagreeing with the Department of Justice means you must be evil and anti-American. Nothing could be further from the truth.”Now the company has filed its official and last response before meeting the FBI in court on March 22nd. The brief counters many of the arguments made in the DOJ’s brief.Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
Apple is opening up its Apple News Format to all publishers and introducing a new analytics dashboard, according to Wired.News launched last fall with partners from major media outlets. As of January there were about 100 different publications with custom pages. However, the company is now making it possible for smaller publishers to make their content available using Apple News Format. Now Apple hopes anyone who makes stuff on the Internet (and wants to be on News) will be able to make their own stylized pages featuring, say, customized fonts and embedded visuals with tools to convert pages to the so-called Apple News Format. To what extent Apple will be monitoring who signs up to publish on the site (and what publishers choose to publish) remains to be seen.Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
A photo allegedly of the upcoming iPhone 7 has been posted by bastillepost. The photo reveals what appears to be an iPhone 7 Plus with a dual lens camera. The lenses are enclosed in one pill shaped cutout rather than two separate cutouts. As previously rumored, a dual lens camera would allow Apple to bring a 2-3x optical zoom function to the device. Apple is already testing dual-lens camera samples from Largan Technology and other companies. Apple uses image sensors from Sony and is expected to integrate technology from its LinX acquisition into the camera for the iPhone 7.Share Article:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Email, Reddit, Digg, Delicious, StumbleUponFollow iClarified:Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Newsletter, App Store, YouTubeAdvertise Here
