iOS 8.4 beta 4, which Apple released yesterday, seems to fix the bug that caused the messages app to crash when receiving a specific text.For those of you unfamiliar with the bug, when receiving a certain series of unicode characters, the Messages app would immediately crash. In some cases, you would be locked out of your Messages app since it would keep crashing, unless you sent yourself a message.You can see a demonstration of the bug on video here. The bug was tied to the way banner notifications displayed to text and even expanded to third party apps like Snapchat.
