Tim Cook Discusses the Importance of Privacy and Security in Awards Dinner Speech

Tim Cook was honored for ‘corporate leadership’ during EPIC”s Champions of Freedom event in Washington last night. To accept the award, the Apple CEO spoke remotely to the audience on guarding customer privacy and ensuring the right for security. In his speech, Cook first discussed the tradeoff between privacy and security that consumers are increasingly forced to make. “Like many of you, we at Apple reject the idea that our customers should have to make tradeoffs between privacy and security,” Cook started. “We can, and we must provide both in equal measure. We believe that people have a fundamental right to privacy.
