Apple and Other Tech Companies Write Open Letter Opposing Controversial Encryption Bill

Apple, Microsoft, Google, Facebook and other technology companies have written an open letter opposing a controversial encryption bill put forward by Senators Richard Burr (R-NC) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).The bill would force smartphone manufacturers to decrypt data on demand for law enforcement. It’s been called unconstitutional and unenforceable.The letter was signed by Reform Government Surveillance, the Computer and Communications Industry Association, the Internet Infrastructure Coalition, and the Entertainment Software Association.
