Here is a list of suggested iPhone apps…

Social Networking

  • Facebook – Is a description really needed?
  • SmartSync – SmartSync for Facebook keeps your contacts up-to-date with their latest pictures and information from Facebook (birthday, status, address, website, company & job title). View your contacts profile pictures from Facebook when they call you! Get reminders for your friends birthdays and send them awesome gifts. If you like Facebook you will probably love SmartSync!
  • LinkedIn – Professional Social site.
  • Echofon – Echofon Pro is the ad-free version of Echofon, an easy to use, super-fast Twitter app for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. (GuruOfComputerWisdom prefers this over Twitter for iPhone slightly more)
  • Twittter for iPhone – Follow your interests: instant updates from your friends, industry experts, favorite celebrities, and what’s happening around the world. Get short bursts of timely information on the official Twitter app for iPhone. (2nd Fav Twitter app)
  • Twitterific for Twitter (Lite/$) – Has local & continues from last tweet you read, no scrolling down 80 tweet to find where you last was like Echofon (used to be 2nd fav Twitter app, now #3)
  • foursquare – Keep up with friends, get insider tips, and unlock discounts and rewards at many locations. While on the go, you can easily tell friends where you are, share pictures, get their comments (“I’m right around the corner, I’ll stop by to say hello”), and get insider tips (“order the Lobster Ravioli; it’s the best dish by far.”). Tons of places offer discounts and freebies to foursquare users, and you earn points and badges for doing the things you love. ( just like the Check-In on Facebook, but this app invented the feature.)
  • GetGlue – GetGlue is a fun social network for entertainment. Check-in to what you are watching, reading and listening to. Connect with friends, discover new favorites, and unlock FREE stickers and discounts.
  • Trillian – Trillian for iPhone helps you organize and stay in touch with your IM and social friends while on-the-go. Receive push notifications, send pictures and messages, and optionally synchronize your accounts & messages with Trillian for Mac. You can even use Trillian to Trillian messaging to save on SMS costs!  AIM/MSN/YAHOO/FACEBOOK

Photos

  • Instagram – Share your photos in a simple photo stream with friends to see – and follow your friends’ photos with the click of a single button. Every day you open up Instagram, you’ll see new photos from your closest friends, and creative people from around the world.

Searching

  • Google Search – Great tool to search the web with out typing, voice activated! Great when driving… Are you a bad speller? say the word.. there you go. Get the most advanced Google search experience for your iPhone, now with Google Goggles, Voice Search and My Location.
  • Google Places for iPhone – Google Places helps you discover nearby places you’ll love. Quickly search for Restaurants, Cafes, Bars and other places, while on the go. Google Places also makes it easy to quickly rate the places you visit. By rating places you’ll get place recommendations based on the places you like and recommendations from your friends.

News

  • AP Mobile – All Your News in the Palm of Your Hand! by the Associated Press
  • NPR News – Another good News app
  • The Weather Channel – Used to see local radar in your area, I’m looking for a better one… suggestions?
  • Sportacular – The Best Sports App there is!! With Push notifications, fast, up-to-the-minute scores, standings, schedules, stats and news for pro and college sports.  Fast, personalized and easy access to live scores and information on your favorite teams, players, and leagues. Includes free game alerts, the latest news from Yahoo! Sports plus much more.

Music

  • Pandora RadioPandora Radio is your own free personalized radio now available to stream music on your iPhone or iPad. Just start with the name of one of your favorite artists, songs or classical composers and Pandora will create a “station” that plays their music and more music like it.  (I love streaming it to my Apple TV to my Bose.)
  • Shazam – With Shazam you can identify music tracks, buy them, and share the tags with friends. Are you at the club and don’t know the track, wipe out Shazam, there you go.

TV

  • i.TV – TV/movie  program schedule app, links up to your Netflix also.

Games

  • Angry Birds – The survival of the Angry Birds is at stake. Dish out revenge on the green pigs who stole the Birds’ eggs.   • World of Warcraft Mobile Armory – The World of Warcraft Mobile Armory app for iPhone and iPod touch is a portable reference that helps you keep track of your characters, access the Auction House, plan your adventures, and keep up with the activities of your guild.
  • Parachute Panic (Lite/$) – This unique casual game requires you to successfully land a host of parachutists into passing boats. Beware of imminent dangers such as helictopter blades, U.F.O´s, sharks and thunder clouds.
  • Sentinel 1 & 2 – It’s war, and this time it’s too close to home. The Martian mission may be over, but the aliens haven’t finished playing space invaders yet. Tower defense type game.  ( I see there is now a part 3, haven’t plaid it yet)
  • Boxed In – Boxed In is a logic based puzzle game in which you guide a robot through each level with your finger. The challenge comes from the boxes obstructing your path. Push boxes in the correct order to reach a level’s end. Be careful! You can’t pull boxes and you can’t push boxes if something is on the other side of it. Extra puzzle elements come into play by pushing boxes on to floor switches to deactivate forcefields allowing you to pass through them and progress. People have refered to it as Sokoban on steroids.
